Early Life

Bidya Devi Bhandari was born in Nepal. She became involved in politics from a young age, joining student movements. She showed an early interest in public service and social change.

Career

She began her career as a member of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist). She served as a minister in the government, holding important positions. These included Minister of Defence and Minister of Environment, where she gained significant experience.

Political Role

Bidya Devi Bhandari made history as the second President of Nepal. She was the first woman to hold this highest office in the country. As President, she worked to uphold the constitution and promote national unity. She served two terms, from 2015 to 2023, representing Nepal on the global stage.
